Metric’s New ‘Synthetica’ Album Will Be About Everything

Besides revealing the title, the simplistic but potentially epic “Synthetica,” which seems like it could have been their last album’s title, frontlady Emily Haines has written more about the CD’s content on the band’s website.

They’ve included a countdown to its release date on June 11 (it is their fifth album and first since 2009) plus a vague but somehow detailed description on the best kind of depravities.

“‘Synthetica’ is about insomnia, fucking up, fashion, all the devices and gadgets attached to our brains, getting wasted, watching people die in other countries, watching people die in your own country, dancing your ass off, questioning the cops, poetic justice, standing up for yourself, sex, the apocalypse,

“doing some stupid shit and totally regretting it but then telling everyone it made you stronger, leaving town as a solution to unsolvable problems, owning your actions and owning your time.”

She also says that their last album, Fantasies, was about “pushing ourselves out into the world, going to unknown places and shaking off everything familiar.” The clearest and probably truest thing written about Synthetica is that it focuses on “what is real vs what is artificial.”

I’m tired of how they have sold out, I was a fan of there’s long before any of you guys.
They should just go all pop now, they took the ca$$ and ran!
