Katy Perry Was Actually Pretty Funny On ‘SNL’

Everyone seemed to be in some sort of crazy lobster-in-a-boiling-pot rage over Katy Perry being announced as a host on Saturday Night Live last week, but I predicted oh so wisely that she would do a good job because of past similar examples like Taylor Swift, Megan Fox, Britney Spears and the Olsen Twins.

Katy did in fact do a pretty good job, despite her head being full of cotton candy and marshmallow clouds. Her monologue didn’t flop thanks to Kristin Wiig’s appearance as Perry’s neighbor and the blue-haired whipped-cream-can inspiration behind “California Gurls.”

She also did a great foul-mouthed Pippa Middleton impression, in a skit with Fred Armisen, who played the even raunchier-mouthed/rockin’ Queen Elizabeth II. Bill Hader also came on the news as the beloved gay city correspondent, Stefon.

“If you’re looking to get festive with your family, I’ve got the perfect place for you. New York’s hottest club is “Hey!” Built from the bucket list of a dying pervert, this Battery Park bitch parade is now managed by overweight game show host, Fat Sayjak.”

[Random speculation: Robyn did the best job as a musical guest of anyone this season, or last]
