Amy Adams For Vanity Fair, January 2014

Amy Adams Vanity fair coverAmy Adams gets straight to the point (and half-naked) in the latest issue of Vanity Fair. Spreading holiday cheer with candy canes and signature ginge minge at famed celebrity hangout Chateau Marmont, Adams tells VF that she is “not pregnant” or looking to get married anytime soon to longtime boyfriend/fiancé Darren Le Gallo.

“I know he’s completely capable and lovely, and beautiful, and offers something I could never hope to offer just in the nature of his being,” Adams says.

She also talks about losing weight and being brown in David O. Russell’s American Hustle, which lazily combines the casts of his previous films, Silver Linings Playbook and The Fighter.

“It’s amazing what a tan can do. Because I’m not tan, so that was fun to play with,” Adams added.  Continue reading “Amy Adams For Vanity Fair, January 2014”

Best, Worst and Middle-of-the-Road Celeb Halloween Costumes of 2013

Halloween [sort of] just happened – when all the famous people test themselves by covering their beautiful faces and dressing up in outfits less expensive and less glamourous than their regular attire in the name of candy corn martini-flavored puking at exclusive parties held by other celebrities – and some of the costumes were pretty damn good.
honey Boo Boo kardashians

And, since the older Kardashian sisters didn’t appear to do much at all, here’s Honey Boo Boo’s entire family AS the Kardashians. P.S. Star Trek/Boo Boo crossover show = Here Comes Honey Cardassian.

And then EVERYONE dressed up like Miley Cyrus, and Miley dressed like her new role model, Lil’ Kim…

Kendall Jenner, David Spade and Kate Hudon and Ariana Grande

In terms of the worst, it’s always safe (and boring) to dress up like a cat. I expect this kind of non-creativity from kids, but WTF, Kate Hudson.

People who are a small part of pop culture dressed as bigger icons of pop culture for the win.

Actually, screw them all, Katy Perry as Justin Bieber takes the cake. The face, the eyebrows…. <3

Most Generic Pop Culture Halloween Costume of the Year Goes to… Paris Hilton!

Paris hilton halloween costume 2013 Miley In skinny showbiz-person news NOT related to Olivia Wilde’s pregnancy, Paris Hilton got all dressed up like Miley at the VMA’s, foam finger and all, strutting her stuff across the abysmal plain known as the Los Santos Los Angeles party scene.

Paris asked her Instagram followers two daunting, life-altering questions: “Like my Miley costume?” and “Twerk of Treat?”

This is Paris’ second costume of 2013, following her even less original Barbie getup from Saturday. (I was absolutely convinced it was Honey Boo Boo for all of 5 seconds.) Maybe she could just go as herself in various stages of her life beginning with her sex tape and ending with The Simple Life, though putting a spear through her head while holding a Carl’s Jr. hamburger seems like her actual best bet in terms of crowd pleasing.

Kerri Walsh Jennings, Colin Kaepernick and Others Get Nekkid For 2013 ESPN Body Issue

Espn body issue covers 2013
ESPN have now released a ton of photos from their 2013 Body Issue to their website and look no further because I have them all. Right here. Naked. (I need the traffic.)

This year’s issue features the notable athletic butts of Colin Kaepernick (NFL), Olympic volleyball star Kerri Walsh Jennings, drag racer Courtney Force, Vernon Davis (NFL), 77-year-old golfer Gary Player and more.

“I like that I’m in shape but still look like a woman,” UFC champ Miesha Tate, scheduled to fight Ronda Rousey during a co-headline fight on December 28, 2013 (with Silva’s rematch against Weidman also on the bill), told the mag. “I don’t feel like I’ve had to give up my femininity to be an athlete.”  Continue reading “Kerri Walsh Jennings, Colin Kaepernick and Others Get Nekkid For 2013 ESPN Body Issue”

Britney Spears Gets in Shape by Avoiding Giant Bowls Full of Cookie Dough

Britney Spears Shape Magazine 2013 Britney Spears‘ exercise and diet tips involve walking backwards on the elliptical three times a week and saying no to uncooked gobs of sugary salmonella goodness.

“I try not to make those too often or I’ll eat the whole bowl of dough,” Spears says of the chocolate chip cookies she sometimes makes for her sons. Other quotes on her regime and new CD from the latest issue of Shape Magazine:

On her Vegas residency: “I’m working out really hard for my upcoming shows in Vegas. The performances won’t be special – they’ll be a massive party from start to finish. And to pull this off, I have to be in top condition and running at full speed.”

Reverse booty workout: “My favorite way to tone my butt is going in reverse on the treadmill and the elliptical. It targets those muscles that are often overlooked. Yeah, that’s my big secret: Do everything backwards!”  Continue reading “Britney Spears Gets in Shape by Avoiding Giant Bowls Full of Cookie Dough”

Best and Worst Dressed at the 2013 Met Gala

beyonce-met-gala 2013
Does the Met Gala serve a purpose, besides as a platform for celebs to outdo each other with extravagant designer gowns doused in gems that cost more than a box of black market livers?

WHO CARES. Look at the gold Givenchy dress Beyonce wore and weep poor-person tears.
Miley Cyrus Met Gala 2012Kristen Stewart Met Gala 2013
WORST: Miley Cyrus (in meshy Marc Jacobs) and Kristen Stewart (in Stella McCartney).

Red pajamas and hair like Angelica’s Rugrats doll? It’s not their fault. Everyone at the ball dressed like a urinal at CBGB because it was the opening of the PUNK: Chaos to Couture exhibition.

Time Magazine’s ‘Most Influential’ List Includes Jennifer Lawrence, Kim Jong-un, Jay-Z, The Obamas and CHRISTINA AGUILERA??

Jay Z time magazine coverJennifer Lawrence time magazine cover
Time’s “100 Most Influential” list of 2013, with seven covers featuring Oscar winner Jennifer Lawrence, tennis star Li Na, PayPal co-founder Elon Musk, Pakistani women’s activist Malala Yousafzai, Republican senator Rand Paul (son of Ron), Jay-Z and Bollywood actor/producer Aamir Khan.

Within the magazine, we see profiles written by fellow trailblazers like Jodie Foster and Oprah Winfrey, divided into artist, leader, pioneer, titan and icon categories.

Right smack dab in the “artists” section sandwiched between Frank Ocean, Bryan Cranston and Steven Spielberg is Christina Aguilera, which I find odd, taking the non-success of her last two albums (Bionic and Lotus), her hiatus from The Voice, and the fact that she’s a goddamn mess into account.  Continue reading “Time Magazine’s ‘Most Influential’ List Includes Jennifer Lawrence, Kim Jong-un, Jay-Z, The Obamas and CHRISTINA AGUILERA??”

Lindsay Lohan Goes Junior College Dropout in Latest Mugshot

Lindsay Lohan mugshot 2013 Lindsay Lohan took time off flicking cigarettes at ducks in the park and sipping lettuce cocktails at club this-n-that to pose for a new booking photo. Good thing she was already in the courthouse, because good luck getting her and that five-hours-ahead-internal-clock to show up for anything besides a coke-handoff behind El Pollo Loco.

This new mugshot is possibly her best. It displays the signature pursed modeling for Hustler 101 lips, the raised “don’t judge me” eyebrow, with messy hair and a laid-back track jacket. Something in between burnout and prom queen.

(A red-headed Ashley Rickards in Awkward?)

Lohan’s latest epic dodgeball game with jail involves 90 days in an especially strict rehab center, 18 months of talking about how everyone is against her and 30 days of picking up trash by the freeway.

Beyonce For Vogue, March 2013

Beyonce Vogue 2013 Before her big night(s) at the Super Bowl and Grammys (to which she wore a similarly underwhelming black and white trouser and top combo), Beyonce did an interview with Vogue that generated a headline about Blue Ivy being her best and only friend in the world.

This is not entirely true. Vogue did in fact incorporate unique quotes from pals like Gemini’s Twin member Kelly Rowland, mother Tina Knowles, Alicia Keys (who said she has “more power than any woman”) and Gwyneth Paltrow (friends with everybody). GQ did the same thing in their extra strange interview with Bey, enlisting Solange for what felt like half the interview.

Maybe Beyonce just isn’t filling enough space on the page? Here are the parts she did fill in, with crayons, for Vogue’s March issue…  Continue reading “Beyonce For Vogue, March 2013”

Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue Winter 2013 [Photos]

Kate Upton has been busy standing still for Vogue Italia, defending her body, being the face of Accessorize jewelry and filming non-kissy Super Bowl commercials, but was completely happy to return to her Sports Illustrated roots for a second swimsuit issue cover.

Okay, maybe not as happy as last year, considering they sent her to Antarctica instead of sunny Australia.

In a Today Show interview, 20-year-old Upton said the location in general was beautiful but the shoot “wasn’t great” because she’s from Florida and had probably only previously seen ice and snow in Scholastic pop-up books. “When I came back I was losing hearing and eyesight because my body was shutting down, it was working so hard to keep warm. I was thinking warm thoughts,” she told Matt Lauer on Feb 12.  Continue reading “Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue Winter 2013 [Photos]”

Super Bowl 2013: Destiny’s Child Went On, The Power Went Out… The Ravens Won

Joe Flacco trophyFrom a blackout (which would’ve been the 49ers’ MVP if they’d won) that was either caused by Ray Lewis’ tears or Beyonce’s hairdryer, to a near San Francisco comeback, Super Bowl XLVII turned out to be pretty eventful.

Here’s a late breakdown:

I’m slightly ashamed to admit that a commercial featuring a baby Budweiser Clydesdale somehow made me cry more than Jennifer Hudson’s performance with 26 children from Sandy Hook elementary.

Alicia Keys (who should have switched with J-Hud) sat at her piano and gave us the jazzy low-risk version of the National Anthem.  Continue reading “Super Bowl 2013: Destiny’s Child Went On, The Power Went Out… The Ravens Won”

Miley Cyrus For Cosmopolitan, March 2013

Miley Cosmopolitan coverMiley Cyrus does a lot of name-dropping in her “It’s Miley, Bitches” interview with Cosmo. The names of her “competition” or radio buddies (Rihanna, Nicki Minaj, Ke$ha, Lady Gaga, Frank Ocean), collaborators (Tyler, The Creator, Mary J. Blige), influences (Johnny Cash, Nelly, Dolly Parton) and of course her husband, Liam not-Thor Hemsworth.

On being herself on her new album: I really didn’t want to make a hip-hop record, and I’m not trying at all to be a Rihanna or a Nicki [Minaj]….That’s not my vibe.

Her musical background: When I was growing up, my older brother would sneak me Nelly CDs, my dad had me listening to Dolly [Parton] and Johnny [Cash], and my mom is a complete metal head. So this record is a weird mixture of all that.  Continue reading “Miley Cyrus For Cosmopolitan, March 2013”

5 Things To Know About Super Bowl XLVII

ravens football headline 2012 super bowlSF Chronicle 49ers win 2013
Here’s the truth, I don’t know anything about the Super Bowl that a devout football fan doesn’t.

I can say that I predicted that the Ravens would beat the favorited Patriots in the AFC Championship, but really this is Super Bowl XLVII for dummies, girls and nerds. 101.

1. Harbaugh vs. Harbaugh

Harbaugh brothers Jim and John aren’t the first blood-relatives in coaching history. (Let’s not forget grease trains Rex and Rob Ryan and basketball’s Stan and Jeff Van Gundy.) Interestingly, they are the first brothers to coach against each other in the Super Bowl.  Continue reading “5 Things To Know About Super Bowl XLVII”

Guillermo del Toro-Produced ‘Mama’ Destroyed by CGI

Megan Charpentier mamaGuillermo del Toro, who often produces for first time directors, became involved with the latest PG-13 ghost story in theaters after Spanish commercial-director Andrés Muschietti sent him a short film.

Sadly, Mamá the short is much more captivating than Mama the feature starring Jessica Chastain as the non-maternal bass player-girlfriend of a man (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, Game of Thrones) whose brother recently died after committing a heinous crime.

Here’s a plot summary, from del Toro himself (void of spoilers unless you haven’t seen a preview):

“The kids are abandoned in the woods by their father. It’s half-fairy tale, half-horror film, and they survive five years in the wilderness and nobody knows exactly how. And the thing that kept them alive is a ghost. It looked after them, it’s a presence of a dead mother. And then they come back to civilization and it comes with them.”  Continue reading “Guillermo del Toro-Produced ‘Mama’ Destroyed by CGI”

Best and Worst Moments and Fashion at the 2013 Golden Globes

Amy and Tina Golden Globes

Tina Fey and Amy Poehler Blew Ricky Gervais and all other hosts out of the water

For some reason, humanity has yet to come up with good word for the female version of a bromance. Regardless, Tina Fey and Amy Poehler’s girlmance/clam-admiration rivals all.

The two SNL funnyladies got laughs without really making fun of anyone. Do you have any idea how hard that is? No, you don’t, because they made it look SO DAMN EASY. Blast.

Tina: Tonight we honor the television shows that have entertained us all year, as well as the films that have only been in theaters for two days.

Amy: That’s what makes tonight so special, only at the Golden Globes do the beautiful people of film rub shoulders with the rat-faced people of television [pan to Quentin Tarantino].  Continue reading “Best and Worst Moments and Fashion at the 2013 Golden Globes”
