Prince Tells Billboard Why He’s More Precious Than Madonna, Maroon 5 and Everyone Else

Prince billboard cover 2013Gail Mitchell is the senior editor for Billboard, specializing in R&B. Gail was recently given the task (or perhaps no one else would take it) of interviewing Prince.

On one hand it’s an honor and a once of a lifetime opportunity because he rarely speaks to reporters, on the other, he’s a tool. Such a tool in fact that he disallowed Mitchell from recording the conversation because she’s [obviously] going to sell his voice for her own personal gain, and frowned at her for taking notes because it’s rude, “just like texting.”

Mitchell recalled from memory Prince’s comments about his former label mate Madonna (who called him a “little troll” in 1994):

It was always about Madonna. She was getting paid, but at the same time we were selling more records and selling out concerts on multiple nights.  Continue reading “Prince Tells Billboard Why He’s More Precious Than Madonna, Maroon 5 and Everyone Else”

Christina Aguilera Makes Solid Case For Weight Gain In Imaginary Comments

Comments thought to be made by Christina Aguilera to Billboard magazine about her weight gain in 2002 during her Stripped tour with Justin Timberlake turned out to be false, according to her rep.

Disappointing because I legitimately thought for a second that she’d made some really great points and illustrated a non-hypocritical message. The quotes, which may have originated on Tumblr, referred to a frantic meeting her label had to discuss her new look.

“The next time my label saw me, I was heavier, darker and full of piercings! Let me tell you, that wasn’t an easy pill for them to swallow. I had gained about 15 pounds during promotion.”  Continue reading “Christina Aguilera Makes Solid Case For Weight Gain In Imaginary Comments”

New Scientific Discovery: Chris Brown Lip-Syncs (How Astonished And Heartbroken Are You?)

Pink wrote on her Twitter while watching Chris Brown at the Billboard Music Awards on Sunday, “One day if I lipsync i hope i do it as well as him…” Then, “i stand behind, always have and always will, LIVE SINGING.”

While her opinion might mean just a tiny bit more if she used capitalization, she brings up a valid point. But why are people getting fired up about this just now, when he’s been doing it his entire career?

For the Grammys earlier this year I’d written that he is a “non-singing dancing dummy-on-shitty-Michael-Jackson-strings,” and that will always be true.  Continue reading “New Scientific Discovery: Chris Brown Lip-Syncs (How Astonished And Heartbroken Are You?)”
