Video: Katy Perry – “Birthday”

So many musicians – even those who make stripper pop – are out to impress their ever-disappointed parents, but I believe Katy Perry releases at least one music video per album with the goal of giving her preacher father an aneurysm. Unfortunately, this one doesn’t quite have the nudity to do the trick.

Like Charlize Theron, Perry loves ugling herself up for the sake of her art. She’s also ten million acres of firework and whipped cream trucks out of the league of every guy she dates, but that’s another story.

In the “Birthday” video, a sort of follow-up to “Last Friday Night,” she’s unrecognizable as 4 of the 5 characters of different genders and religions (the Bar Mitzvah DJ is the ultimate f*ck you to daddy) she plays.

Trailer: Grand Theft Auto V

Rockstar Games just released three new trailers for Grand Theft Auto 5. One for each of the characters the story revolves around, all with the appropriate rock, rap and country songs.

Michael, the disgruntled husband, Franklin, an inner city kid, and Trevor, a retired pilot who lives in a mobile home. All in or around the fictional city of Los Santos (Angeles).  Continue reading “Trailer: Grand Theft Auto V”

Tyler Perry’s ‘Temptation:’ A Movie That Punishes Its Characters With HIV

Judith and Harley TemptationOh my god. As if I didn’t already want to hate-watch the crap out of TemptationI just found out the ending and I don’t care about spoiling it for you because it’s not The Walking Dead or Game of Thrones, it’s trash. (Or “beautiful garbage,” to quote Courtney Love.)

In the movie (one of my favorite trailers of all time), the main character, Judith, contracts HIV after cheating on her typically nice but forgetful husband with a muscular young entrepreneur.

Not only does he have HIV, but he’s abusive! Oh nooooo. What the hell, Tyler Perry. Was abuse not enough for you? You had to throw AIDS in the mix? Is that not the most extreme version of reality? I get that it’s a movie, but that seems like harsh punishment, even for fictional people. Continue reading “Tyler Perry’s ‘Temptation:’ A Movie That Punishes Its Characters With HIV”

‘Grand Theft Auto V’ Takes Place in Fictional Los Angeles, Features Three Playable Characters

Rockstar Games set their most famous game, Grand Theft Auto, on the back burner to work on Red Dead Redemption, L.A. Noire and Max Payne 3 but the franchise is finally returning to Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 in Spring 2013, after a five-year hiatus.

Grand Theft Auto V‘s developers promise BIG thrills. Three playable characters and a map (Los Santos) that is bigger than Grand Theft Auto IV, Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas and Red Dead combined.

The characters (from right), FBI deal-maker Michael, youthful repo man Franklin and longtime/druggie criminal Trevor, can be selected in between missions and all have stories that “closely intertwine.”

Openly Gay Comic Book Characters, Latest In ‘Astonishing X-Men’

If I was a backwoods old timey conservative I’d say that ‘the gays have been infiltrating the media for years,’ and that it’s gone beyond just movies and television.

Yes, as if Queer As Folk, Will & Grace, The L Word, Brokeback Mountain, Skins, and Modern Family weren’t enough, there are homosexuals in video games (Dragon Age, Mass Effect, The Witcher 2) and comic books! Get the pitchforks.

Doonesbury (in 1976), Wonder Woman (1988), The Authority (1999), Batwoman (2006) and Archie (2010) are all examples of comics with gay characters.

In 1992 as a part of Alpha Flight, the Marvel superhero Northstar came out of the closet.

Different Location And Characters For ‘American Horror Story’ Season 2

Ryan Murphy, unlike Obama, has some brass balls. Ones that may be leading him into dangerous territory. The first season of American Horror Story, his third notable show after Nip/Tuck and Glee, basically jumped the shark but managed to re-captivate fans and wrap things together at the end, by killing everyone.

By the way, I want credit for predicting the season finale. Gold stars? Trophy? Something. Back to the point, creator Ryan Murphy revealed during a teleconference yesterday that the second season of AHS will be completely revamped, with a new location and characters.
