This Week in Embarrassing TV: Trans ‘Degrassi’ Character Adam Stuffs Pants With Cucumber

Adam Cucumber DegrassiDespite appealing to a grade and high school audience, Degrassi (formerly Degrassi: The Next Generation), still manages to capture taboo moments in a way that most American shows wouldn’t dare. In last week’s episode, transgender character Adam (Jordan Todosey), who has decided not to tell a girl (for the first date at least) that he’s trans, is approached by his brother.

The brother wonders what happens if she “gets grabby” “you-know-where,” and his advice involves a pickle in the pants.

It just so happens that things do “get hot” and as the girl reaches for the goods, something falls on the floor. In the most embarrassing television moment of 2012, she picks it up, thinking it’s his phone.

Though Graham’s Brooks had musical aspirations and attempted to showcase his rapping skills on television, no one could have predicted that he would become a platinum-selling megastar, onetime Rihanna love interest, musical guest on Saturday Night Live and close personal friend and Cash Money labelmate of Nicki Minaj and Lil’ Wayne. [Season 1-8] Continue reading “Five Degrassi Stars Who Made It Big”

A New Degrassi Season Is Just Around The Corner!

Don’t even think about questioning me for watching Degrassi. I love teen dramas as much as the next lady and there are NONE on American television except, what, 9021, the college-age kids of Gossip Girl? No.

I want something with a semblance to the original Beverly Hills 90210, The O.C. or early Degrassi: The Next Generation seasons. All that’s left is a gutted version of that and lemme tell you, IT’LL DO. Continue reading “A New Degrassi Season Is Just Around The Corner!”
