Another Free Song From Garbage!

Not only can you listen to Garbage’s entire eleven-track album Not Your Kind Of People on Spin.com, you can download the song “Automatic Systematic Habit” for free on iTunes.

It’s actually better than “Blood For Poppies,” a track the band gave away in mid-March. “Automatic Systematic Habit” is something fans of their last four albums can easily get on board with, a hybrid of material from Version 2.0 and Bleed Like Me.

Manson, Butch and the boys will drop Not Your Kind Of People on May 15. If you’re sick of me talking about Garbage, I don’t CARE! Be prepared to hear all about Metric and Garbage and Tegan and Sara for the next hundred days.

Stockholm Singer Soso Uses Pirate Bay To Release Album

I have to give major props to bold new Swedish pop artist Sophia “Soso” Somajo for releasing her debut album for free on the torrent website The Pirate Bay.

You can download The Time I Dug So Deep I Ended Up in China (T.T.I.D.S.D.I.E.U.I.C.) there or on her website, where she writes:

“I have written, produced and recorded this album in my bedroom. It’s the story of my life. Literally.”

“This project is an anti-social experiment pushing the boundaries of the music industry. I have even gone so far that I have left my major record label and started up my own. I call it: Do It Yourself Bitch Productions.”

In that very insightful and personal letter she also talks about going back to making music to simply be heard, and not resisting change – referring to the dying physical music industry and vitalized digital one.  Continue reading “Stockholm Singer Soso Uses Pirate Bay To Release Album”

Download The New Garbage Track, ‘Blood For Poppies’

Garbage’s first album in seven years has a release date (May 15th) an official tracklist, album art and now an official single.

Their new song “Blood For Poppies” off Not Your Kind Of People was played on KROQ and other radio stations yesterday. You can download it for free HERE.

I’ve already placed the song on my favorite iTunes playlist and have had it on repeat for a good portion of the day.

That is, when I wasn’t re-watching Young Adult (I like to emulate Mavis) devouring pizza and listening to Stern. I think I can even step away from my deep-rooted love for Garbage and say that this is a good song that could easily receive heavy alternative radio airplay. R.I.P. BtJunkie, Limewire, Megaupload & Mininova

As all you penny-pinching piracy fiends probably noticed your favorite websites are getting shut the fuck down by specially-trained members of the special forces. (According to the RIAA At least 63% of people illegally download music)

Law-enforcers who can deal with people like Kim “Dotcom” Schmitz, the overweight Megaupload founder (and top ranked Modern Warfare 3 player) whose New Zealand home was raided on January 20. Continue reading “R.I.P. BtJunkie, Limewire, Megaupload & Mininova”

Download: Summer’s End Reggae Mixtape

I hate to say “end of summer,” but it really is almost over. School supplies are being advertised and the only perk is that I won’t die of heat exhaust (even in Oregon) and all the little twerps will be back in school.

I’ve compiled a playlist of all my favorite reggae songs, from the 60’s to the 90’s, originating from Jamaica, Africa and even France.

Reggae is universal, especially for people my age (and older) and one of the most fitting sound of summer besides relentless pop music.

Teleporting Super Mario Bros Indie Game

Indie game developer Stabyourself (Maurice Guégan and Sašo Smole) are the brains behind a new project that combines the mirrored teleporting aspects of the game Portal with the retro familiarity of Nintendo’s original Super Mario Brothers.

Mari0 (with a zero) will be 100% free to Mac and PC users once it comes out, though the release date is currently unknown.

Guégan and Smole promise that,

“The primary maps will have a story and some portal-y puzzles,” And their catchphrase is,What if Nintendo teamed up with Valve and recreated the famous Mario game with Portal gun mechanics?’
