Rihanna for Harper’s Bazaar Arabia, 2014

rihanna arabia coverJust realized I haven’t talked about Rihanna in a while because I thought if I prayed hard enough in silence for her Instagram account to reappear I might get a response because summer is here and I desperately need to know which monokini has the best slits and what beach provides equal parts shade and sun for eating pineapple slices off Cara DeLevingne in an MDMA haze.

An Instagram account isn’t even the only thing we’re mourning, Rihanna has sadly been enjoying her break from album-recording, and will probably not release her usual CD in November.

No diamonds, no men down, no broken dishes…  Continue reading “Rihanna for Harper’s Bazaar Arabia, 2014”

Kirsten Dunst Said an Unwise Thing About Women

Kirsten Dunst harpers cover 2014I don’t mind when other women say things like “My job is being a mother.” Not only is being a mother one of the hardest and most important “jobs” of all, I think if that’s what fulfills you and makes you happy then who am I to shake my head and hope there’s something more to life than stretching out my vagina until it’s the size of a hula hoop?

These days, we see more and more that any gender or sexuality can take on the idyllic role of “mother” and “father,” which is why Kirsten Dunst’s old timey comments about a woman’s place seemed odd.

She recently told Harper’z Bazaar UK:

I feel like the feminine has been a little undervalued. We all have to get our own jobs and make our own money, but staying at home, nurturing, being the mother, cooking — it’s a valuable thing my mom created. And sometimes, you need your knight in shining armor. I’m sorry. You need a man to be a man and a woman to be a woman. That’s why relationships work …

Selena Gomez’s Special Relationship With Hooters (The Restaurant)

Selena Gomez Harper's Bazaar 2013 Widowers, fathers, and okay-looking guys with extremely cute dogs are chick magnets. You know this, I know this, Sonny Koufax from Big Daddy knew it and Selena Gomez‘s dad knows it.

In the April issue of Harper’s Bazaar, Gomez sits in a Hooters, eating a deep-fried pickle and reminiscing about watching basketballs bounce with her father back in Grand Prairie, Texas.

“When I was 7, my dad would go to Hooters to watch Spurs games,” she said while vigorously shoving a pickle in mysterious sauce. “He started noticing that when I would come, with my little pigtails, all the waitresses would be like, ‘Hey!’ So he ended up half spending time with me but with all those cute girls coming over. And that kind of became our thing.”

Anne Hathaway says she has no sex appeal, ya don’t say

Anne Hathaway Harper's Bazaar UKAnne Hathaway does a very tame shoot for Harper’s Bazaar and tells the mag “I had no grit, no sex appeal”. But she’s not unsexy because she has large droopy eyes like a Basset Hound and a matching husband hair cut, no it was just her pure sweetness.

Hathaway blurts first world complains like how she’s always been seen as a “bizarre-world good-girl character” and thinks she is labeled “very vanilla, very sweet, very accessible and not interesting”.

The girl’s got a point. She did a “racy” photo shoot wearing corsets and manages to look like a vanilla wafer wrapped up in a band-aid.
The interview goes on to explain Hathaway had a hard time playing Fantine in Les mis because she was too happy in real life getting married to normal everyday hot guy, Adam Shulman.  Continue reading “Anne Hathaway says she has no sex appeal, ya don’t say”

Terry Richardson Makes Oprah Look Crisp for Harper’s Bazaar

Titty-loving photographer Terry Richardson gives Oprah the signature high-contrast treatment for Harper’s Bazaar. Unlike his angles of Kate Upton, Richardson makes Oprah look like a strong, powerful cup of joe with bright tailored suits and plenty of eye contact.

Oprah even gave the signature Terry “thumbs up” which … sends the wrong message. For those of you who don’t know, Terry Richardson is not only a great photographer but a total molester creep. The thumbs up says the most influential woman in the world endorses Terry Richardson, the world’s most notorious hipster pervert. But in O’s defence she probably has no idea since C grade tabloid fodder isn’t allowed 40 feet from her retina.

Rihanna For Harper’s Bazaar, August 2012

Rihanna has a fun, predictable routine when being interviewed by high-profile magazines. She talks about relationships every time, and in some non-subtle way, manages to mention Chris Brown. Here’s what she’s telling Harper’s Bazaar:

“When I was in love, I fell so hard. I was really, really, really in love. The way it made me feel was priceless. And in a blink of an eye my whole life changed. Everything that I knew was different. I never thought I’d feel that pain in my life. I’m afraid of feeling that again.”

That’s her second Chris Brown quote. A line she manages to drop without mentioning his name. The first refers to a song he was featured on, the controversial “Birthday Cake” remix:

“The fans could have said, ‘We don’t want anything to do with it,’ I understood that people had every right to be concerned about it. But I didn’t see it that way because I’m in a different place.”  Continue reading “Rihanna For Harper’s Bazaar, August 2012”

Kate Beckinsale For Harper’s Bazaar Russia

Kate Beckinsale may be the franchise face of Underworld but she’s also a face of fashion who can wear virtually anything. The sort of British mannequin in the same category as Victoria Beckham, only Kate’s an action star instead of an unconventional soccer mom.

I know these Underworld movies don’t mean much to the average joe, but in the nerd world they are a horrifyingly big deal. Underworld: Awakening seems to be about Selene’s efforts to stop a new breed of Lichen (werewolves) that are only slightly smaller than King Kong.

Beckinsale covered Russian Harper’s Bazaar for their January 2012 issue and told News.com earlier in December that she had no intentions to repeat the leather-clad vamp role.
