SlutWalk 2013 Participant Generates the Best Sign Evahh

Jesus loves slutsThere’s this thing in Canada and other parts of North America and hopefully the world called “SlutWalk” where women march the streets with signs and sometimes skimpy outfits declaring that women do not deserve to be shamed, raped or dehumanized just because of the way they dress or act.

It’s amazing, and this sign from peaceful protestors in Edmonton, Alberta (one of my favorite cities, hands-down best hockey team, mmm poutine) is clearly the best sign ever.

Jesus Loves Sluts. Mary Magdalene. Heck yeah. Where are Beavis and Butthead when you need them?

Beyonce For Vogue, March 2013

Beyonce Vogue 2013 Before her big night(s) at the Super Bowl and Grammys (to which she wore a similarly underwhelming black and white trouser and top combo), Beyonce did an interview with Vogue that generated a headline about Blue Ivy being her best and only friend in the world.

This is not entirely true. Vogue did in fact incorporate unique quotes from pals like Gemini’s Twin member Kelly Rowland, mother Tina Knowles, Alicia Keys (who said she has “more power than any woman”) and Gwyneth Paltrow (friends with everybody). GQ did the same thing in their extra strange interview with Bey, enlisting Solange for what felt like half the interview.

Maybe Beyonce just isn’t filling enough space on the page? Here are the parts she did fill in, with crayons, for Vogue’s March issue…  Continue reading “Beyonce For Vogue, March 2013”

Miley Cyrus For Cosmopolitan, March 2013

Miley Cosmopolitan coverMiley Cyrus does a lot of name-dropping in her “It’s Miley, Bitches” interview with Cosmo. The names of her “competition” or radio buddies (Rihanna, Nicki Minaj, Ke$ha, Lady Gaga, Frank Ocean), collaborators (Tyler, The Creator, Mary J. Blige), influences (Johnny Cash, Nelly, Dolly Parton) and of course her husband, Liam not-Thor Hemsworth.

On being herself on her new album: I really didn’t want to make a hip-hop record, and I’m not trying at all to be a Rihanna or a Nicki [Minaj]….That’s not my vibe.

Her musical background: When I was growing up, my older brother would sneak me Nelly CDs, my dad had me listening to Dolly [Parton] and Johnny [Cash], and my mom is a complete metal head. So this record is a weird mixture of all that.  Continue reading “Miley Cyrus For Cosmopolitan, March 2013”

Kim Kardashian’s Next Wedding – PRIVATE KEEP OUT/GUARD DOG/ELECTRIC FENCE

Kim Kardashian is already talking about her next marriage in the latest issue of Allure, even though she doesn’t have a boyfriend that we know of and just announced her divorce a few months ago.

Though she does say she’s “not ready” for another relationship she mentions that her next wedding will be, in the non-words of Mary J. Blige, a less public affair.

“I would just want it to be so special, with our family and close friends, and that’s it. Somewhere on a deserted island, very private…No cameras.”

So, angry Kardashians/blockhead Jenners ONLY? No press and no gingy paint-drinkingAndre-The-Giant-lookin’ mofos?

Kate Moss’s Take On Demon Possession

Tis the season of demon possession, which is alright with me because it means that Kate Moss and W Magazine are going all sacrilegious and demonic for their March 2012 split cover issue.

W editor Stefano Tonchi explained the concept of the light/dark covers as a classic “dichotomy between ‘good girls’ and ‘bad girls.'” The covers were shot by Steven Klein and show the 5’7″ supermodel in white Vera Wang and dark lace.

The funny thing about people being “outraged” or “scared” over this is that it reminds me of Jennifer’s Body. This shoot is hardly comedic but that movie was, and how could anyone be afraid of Megan Fox or Kate Moss?

A New Garbage Album Is Expected In March, 2012!

New music from Garbage is finally becoming a realization, nearly seven years after 2005’s Bleed Like Me, not to mention rumors of a full on break-up then a Shirley Manson solo contribution and more whispers of new material as far back as 2007.

Butch Vig and Scottish frontwoman Shirley Manson, who took a break to pursue acting (she played a bot on Sarah Connor Chronicles) plus bassist Duke Erikson and guitarist Steve Marker are bringing us their fifth album, which Rolling Stone just revealed is due in March or April of 2012. (We may see a single in December or January)
