Michael Fassbender Will Bring ‘Assassin’s Creed’ To Life

Michael Fassbender has played a metal-grasping superhero in X-Men: First Class, a despicable sex addict in Shame, and a devious android in Prometheus. His next big role is perhaps more daring than any of those…

He has been cast as Desmond Miles/Altaïr in a big screen version of Assassin’s CreedIt’s nerve-wracking because movies based on video games are commonly unsuccessful (Doom, Super Mario Bros., Alone In The Dark).  Continue reading “Michael Fassbender Will Bring ‘Assassin’s Creed’ To Life”

‘Prometheus’ – Smart Director, Dumb Scientists

Ridley Scott was smart to not market Prometheus as a prequel to Alien, because that’s exactly what it is. Not in the cinematic “all your questions are answered” shoot-cut-wrap sort of way, but it does cleverly give fans of the original the easter egg they’ve been waiting for.

Scott is smarter here then he’s been in a long time, presenting you with special effects that make Battleship and everything else from recent years besides District 9 look like they were shot a day after computers were invented. Scott has also not lost his talent for creating the same tension for the audience that his characters are experiencing.

Scientists to be exact. Two in “charge,” though not as much as they’d like to be. Then a captain, medic, pilots, an overseer, an android, a geologist, a botanist, and a few others.  Continue reading “‘Prometheus’ – Smart Director, Dumb Scientists”

Original Cast And Director To Return For ‘X-Men: First Class’ Sequel

You can rest easy, the next X-Men movie is unlikely to throw the franchise back into the depths of critically-panned hell. Not only does it sound like the original cast will return but the director, Matthew Vaughn, will reprise as well.

Michael Fassbender as a vengeful Magneto and Jennifer Lawrence as the naked blue shapeshifter Mystique are reportedly sure to  star and I would assume James McAvoy too though that has not been confirmed.  Continue reading “Original Cast And Director To Return For ‘X-Men: First Class’ Sequel”

Who Wants To See Michael Fassbender’s Peen?

I dunno if anyone is interested in seeing Magneto’s Peen, NOT Ian McKellen, Michael Fassbender. The younger of the helmet-wearing kings of metal telekinesis. Speaking of helmets…

This movie, Shame, I’m still not sure if I want to see it. Am I going to end up shattered and torn like when I walked out of Martha Marcy May Marlene? I think I crapped out my soul after that one. Plus this mean lady told me to “grow up” after I snickered during a slow-motion skinny dipping scene with dramatic music.

What if I laugh during Shame? I will define the title of the movie. Continue reading “Who Wants To See Michael Fassbender’s Peen?”

Latest Carey Mulligan Film ‘Shame’ Receives NC-17 Rating

Shame, a drama directed by Steve McQueen and starring Michael Fassbender (Magneto in X-Men: First Class) as a sex addict and Carey Mulligan (Drive, An Education) as his sister, has earned itself an NC-17 rating.

Surprisingly, McQueen may have no interest in cutting material from the movie in order to knock it down to a more acceptable “restricted” rating from the MPAA. (Motion Picture Association of America)

Steve Giulia, the head of Fox Searchlight, is selling it as a positive advance for the critically-acclaimed movie, which is expected to earn Fassbender’s full-frontal performance an Oscar nod:
