Is It Ever ‘OK’ For an Officer to Shoot an Unarmed Civilian?

Officer who shot mike brownThere are a lot of heated discussions surrounding the shooting of Michael Brown, the unarmed African-American teen shot and killed by a police officer in Ferguson, Missouri earlier this month (bringing back all-too-fresh memories of the killing of Trayvon Martin in Florida).

While we have yet to know why Brown was shot, if there is a “reason” at all, we now know the identity of the officer and, thanks to an autopsy conducted on Sunday, the exact amount of times Brown was shot.

28-year-old Darren Wilson controversially put two bullets in Brown’s head and four more in his right arm while, according to witnesses and other reports, his hands were in the air, not holding or reaching for a weapon of any kind.

The incident has been a huge source of controversy for the nation and an absolute nightmare for the police in St. Louis, who are under even more scrutiny for tear gassing protestors, not to mention that the KKK are reportedly raising money in support of Wilson.

While everyone is wondering how and why this happened in the first place, I’m specifically wondering if there’s ANY circumstance where a member of the police force could shoot an unarmed civilian and not be ostracized by most of America. Another man goes on a shooting spree: Teen and police officer killed

James brown shooting victimsA man by the name of James Brown went on a shooting spree on May 31st.

As a result two innocent people were murdered. One a boy of 17 years and the other a police officer.

James Brown was reported to have started shooting randomly as he drove through Norfolk, Virginia.

Mark Rodriguez was on his way home from a celebration of his high school graduation when he was shot in his car. He was declared dead at the scene at the young age of 17.

A police officer was also killed when he spotted Brown’s car near his home. After they spotted the car, the gunman shot officer Brian Jones and Curtis Allison multiple times from inside his home. Allison tried to help Jones, who was shot multiple times. Both officers were taken to the hospital where Jones later passed away. Allison is expected to make a full recovery.

James tried to escape after killing one officer and injuring the other. He ended up crashing into another car when trying to get away. Police officers say that Brown resisted arrest and tried to take the policeman’s gun. He was shot by the officer who was trying to arrest him and pronounced dead at the scene.  Continue reading “Another man goes on a shooting spree: Teen and police officer killed”

James Franco Hits on Teen Girl to Promote Teacher/Student Film, ‘Palo Alto’

James Franco LucyIn what is very likely an elaborate and bizarre scheme to promote an upcoming movie starring Emma Roberts, James Franco seemingly attempted to meet up with an underage Scottish girl named Lucy on Instagram.

A number of websites wrote about the scandal after the 17-year-old posted their conversation (Franco asking questions like “Do you have a bf?” “When is your bday” and “What’s your #?) on Imgur.

The girl was either in on it too or wasn’t and he had simply counted on her tattling to the news.

Palto Alto, out May 9, is reportedly about a high school teacher who has an affair with a teen soccer player. Check out the trailer HEREContinue reading “James Franco Hits on Teen Girl to Promote Teacher/Student Film, ‘Palo Alto’”

Rebecca Black Pours Corn Syrup in Our Eardrums With ‘Friday’ Follow-Up

Rebecca Black Saturday phoneYou and Rebecca Black might have more in common than you think. Like you, she’s still trying to get “Friday” out of her head. This according to lyrics from her new song, “Saturday.”

At 16, she’s three years older than you remember her, but, as you know, this age difference isn’t terribly noticeable in terms of maturity.

She’s still referencing her old song (“gotta have my bowl”), partying “all night” and wondering where the peanut butter and some guy’s pants have gone.

Unfortunately, it’s not quite as catchy as “Friday” and probably won’t spawn as many awesome parodies.

Chris Brown Lost His Virginity in Grade School

Chris brown shirtless the guardianDuring a chat with The Guardian, Chris Brown reveals that he had his cherry popped by an “older woman” when he was just 8-years-old. He says this type of thing is accepted in the country, specifically his podunk population-2,000 town of Tappahannock, Virginia.

He lost his virginity when he was eight years old, to a local girl who was 14 or 15. Seriously? “Yeah, really. Uh-huh.” He grins and chuckles. “It’s different in the country.” Brown grew up with a great gang of boy cousins, and they watched so much porn that he was raring to go. “By that point, we were already kind of like hot to trot, you know what I’m saying? Like, girls, we weren’t afraid to talk to them; I wasn’t afraid. So, at eight, being able to do it, it kind of preps you for the long run, so you can be a beast at it.”

He later refuses to reveal exactly how many women he’s slept with, but does make sure to tell us that “they can’t really complain” [because he’ll beat them if they do].  Continue reading “Chris Brown Lost His Virginity in Grade School”

To The People Who Bullied Amanda Todd…

Police were called to the home of 15-year-old Amanda Todd on October 10 after she committed suicide in her home in British Columbia.

A month before her death she posted a video called “My story: Struggling, bullying, suicide, self harm,” and it is basically a list of reasons why she took her life.

In 7th grade Todd sought attention on webcam chats. One man who the police are currently searching for coerced her into flashing him. When she refused to do more he sent a screenshot of her chest to her family and friends which, on top of some of the usual impulsive decisions most teens make (sleeping with a boy who had a girlfriend), led to her being bullied at school.  Continue reading “To The People Who Bullied Amanda Todd…”
