Lady Gaga Reveals ARTPOP Tracklist

ARTPOP cover Lady Gaga has been quite the busy bee this week, unveiling her ARTPOP album art in Times Square as well as the entire 15-song tracklist and a new song from Robert Rodriguez’s Machete Kills soundtrack, which hits theaters tomorrow and features Gaga in her acting debut as the mysterious temptress La Chameleón.

The titles are a sort of personalized Scrabble board of obvious Gaga-esque obsessions (Versace, manicures, fashion) and super duper artsy stuff like drugs and wet dreams. Really Gaga, Mary Jane Holland? …Most obvious weed reference EVER.

1. Aura
2. Venus
3. G.U.Y.
4. Sexxx Dreams
5. Jewels N’ Drugs (featuring T.I., Too $hort, and Twista)
6. MANiCURE
7. Do What U Want (featuring R. Kelly)
8. ARTPOP
9. Swine
10. Donatella
11. Fashion!
12. Mary Jane Holland
13. Dope
14. Gypsy
15. Applause

Justin Timberlake Hides Eyes, Sings About Bubblegum on ‘The 20/20 Experience’

The 20:20 experience coverOn the album cover for The 20/20 Experience, future-obsessed Justin Timberlake peers through one of those freaky optometrist torture devices.

Like Jessica Biel, it’s shiny, stiff and has a lot of knobs on it, which makes it just random enough to seem relevant even though it’s roughly 92 years old.

Question: If unfamous, untalented Justin Timerberlake was walking down the street, would you still glance his way?

If the answer is “yes,” I figure it’s because of those mesmerizing blue eyes, which are purposefully hidden on this cover. That’s just bad marketing. Play to the audience any less and it’s Joey Fatone.

Rihanna’s ‘Unapologetic’ Features Chris Brown Duet ‘Nobodies Business’

Rihanna’s new album features little known artists like Nashville native Mikky Ekko and Epic Records rapper Future, but isn’t void of big names of her past. Names like Eminem (“Love The Way You Lie”) and Chris Brown (hate the way you exist).

The tracklisting for Unapologetic, recently tweeted by Mother Navy (new Gaga-esque nickname for herself) reveals a song called “Nobodies Business” with Brown.

This is the couples’ fourth collaboration counting the “Birthday Cake” and “Turn Up The Music” remixes plus the leaked Confessions of a Shopaholic effort “Bad Girl.”

Rihanna’s love for Chris Brown isn’t your business because she’s totally aware that he’s awful, but doesn’t care because she can’t stay away from him? I think.  Continue reading “Rihanna’s ‘Unapologetic’ Features Chris Brown Duet ‘Nobodies Business’”

The ‘Frankenweenie’ Soundtrack Is Awesome

I’m sure by now you all know that Tim Burton has a new animated film coming out about a canine brought back to life by his child companion, Victor.

You also probably didn’t care because like every other sensible person, you realized that Tim Burton hasn’t made an amazingly entertaining movie since 1999’s Sleepy Hollow.

I tend to assume that Frankenweenie (which is actually a full-length version of a short film Burton made in 1984) will be a repeat of Corpse Bride. Fun, but ultimately just, heartless and missing something.

Recently I found out that the one thing it won’t be missing is a cool soundtrack.

And I don’t mean that it’s “cool” in that old man way that actually means it’s comprised completely of Randy Newman, Phil Collins, or Stevie Wonder songs.  Continue reading “The ‘Frankenweenie’ Soundtrack Is Awesome”

The lead single is “Blood For Poppies.”

Rihanna’s Official ‘Talk That Talk’ Tracklist

With a release date just days before Thanksgiving, Rihanna’s sixth studio album in a mere seven years, looks to exceed expectations. Her previous effort, Loud, may have earned lukewarm reactions from the critics, but the fans went for it whole-heartedly and so did the queen of Barbadian pop.

She made music videos for half the tracks on Loud, toured all over the U.S. plus overseas and hasn’t let up besides her recent bout with the flu. Her new song “We Found Love,” an electronically dumb yet blissful pairing with Calvin Harris, is the first look at Talk That Talk, due November 21st.

Florence + The Machine Sophomore Album Details

The highly anticipated second album from Florence Welch and her machine, Ceremonials, is due out on October 31 (Halloween!) in the UK.

From the song titles, stuff like “All This And Heaven Too,” the name of the LP seems to really fit. It seems very spiritual, but not preachy, I’d assume. The red-headed Bohemian fairy would never do that to me…

Random Muppets ‘Green Album’ At Starbucks

Standing in line today to finally fulfill my craving for a Pumpkin Spice Latte at Starbucks, I flip through the four albums eyeing me from the counter by the biscotti and gift cards, and what do I find?

An album full of Muppet cover songs. A strang grouping of artists – a Weezer and Haley Williams pairing? Alkaline Trio? Rachael Yamagata? Hmm I like all these things, on their own. BUT NOT ON A MUPPET COVER ALBUM!

She & Him’s Christmas Record

Upon hearing She & Him’s charming 60’s-inspired debut album in 2008 and previously hearing Zooey Deschanel sing “Baby It’s Cold Outside” in Elf, co-starring Will Ferrell, it was only inevitable that Zooey Deschanel would be involved in a music-related Christmas project.

She & Him’s (also featuring Portland hipster M.Ward) third album will be filled with holiday cheer – sweet like eggnog and popcorn strings and the smell of a Blue Spruce. Set to release October 25th…

Scott Weiland Releases Tasteful Cover Album

The CD is out on Weiland’s label, Softdrive, and titled A Compilation Of Scott Weiland Cover Songs. (Funnily enough, it has no cover art, despite being a cover album)
