Video: Blackhawks Win Stanley Cup at Last Minute!

I hate to sound like the “TV TV sports sports” people over at Microsoft, but the Chicago Blackhawks taking the lead tonight over the Boston Bruins and winning the Stanley Cup with two goals in the final minute and 16 seconds of the game was pretty amazing.

Sadly, I wasn’t watching because I don’t have a horse in the race and have worshipped at the altar of the Edmonton Oilers since I discovered that hockey was the best spectator sport ever.

This is the franchise’s fifth championship win. Other years included 1934, 1938, 1961 and 2010.

Cassadee Pope Takes ‘The Voice’ Season 3 Crown

Cassadee Pope train dress 1Former Hey Monday frontwoman Cassadee Pope beat out Terry McDermott and Nicholas David after performing with Kelly Clarkson, The Killers and Avril Lavigne in last night’s finale of The Voice.

Pope was a clear favorite with two high-charting iTunes covers, including one (“Over You”) that knocked “Gangnam Style” from the top. Her win in season three was the most watched finale in the show’s short history, with 14 million viewers.

Her competition, Radagast and Bilbo from The Hobbit, had decent pipes but no chance of achieving the commercial success that Pope can and hopefully will.  Continue reading “Cassadee Pope Takes ‘The Voice’ Season 3 Crown”

Jermaine Paul Is Too Much Like Javier Colon

Another champion of The Voice was crowned on Tuesday and, as was true with season one, the other contestants proved far more interesting than the winner. Season one’s Javier Colon and Jermaine Paul have far too much in common…

I’m not just talking about the fact that they’re both black, Jamar Rogers could have won (though Juliet Simms ending up representing team Cee Lo) and would have had nothing in common with Paul. The two winners being men with similar tones, styles, range and song choices has everything to do with it. Excellent singers but boring as all hell.  Continue reading “Jermaine Paul Is Too Much Like Javier Colon”

Who Has What It Takes To Win ‘The Voice?’

I became obsessed with The Voice last season, when the show was in its beta phase. When they didn’t anticipate enough rejections in the blind auditions, and cast members had to re-audition to fill spots.

The show is still flawed, battle rounds pit too good of foes against one another, causing people who might have won to go home early. Angie Johnson versus recently axed Cheesa was one of those times.

Did Chris Brown Just Compare Selling Drugs To Beating Rihanna?!

Oh no he motherfuckin’ didn’t (but yes, he actually did) Tweet on Tuesday that everyone imitates rappers who have sold drugs and that people can learn from their mistakes yet are unrightfully bombarded with day-to-day hatred?

WHAT? Seriously? Chris Brown, I hate you for a very good reason and I will never forgive you or think of you in a different light, especially since you continue to act like a punk.

I will always see a violent, cocky, talentless, immature little prick when I look at you.

That’s what happens when you hit a woman (who happens to be a successful and loved pop star) until her eyes swell shut.
