Two 12-year-old girls stab classmate to prove loyalty to Slenderman

stabbing suspects wisconsinThe title really does say it all. 12-year-old Morgan Geyser and 12-year-old Anissa Weier stabbed a 12-year-old classmate (name has not been released) Saturday morning in Wisconsin. They stabbed the victim 19 times and left her in the woods hoping she would die.

The motive of the attackers was to become proxies of Slenderman and to prove he was real. A fictional character created by the internet. Criminal and psychological experts say they’d be surprised if investigators didn’t find evidence of psychological problems in either of them.

On Monday the two suspect were tried as adults with attempted first degree murder. They are facing up to 60 years in prison. Anissa Weier told the police that she first heard of Slenderman on a website called creepypasta and then introduced the site to Geyser.

A little background on Slenderman, he is depicted as being unnaturally tall, with very long limbs and/or tentacles that he can adjust the length of. Slenderman blends in with trees, and usually hides in plain sight. Summerfest, World’s Largest Festival, Kicks Off Thursday

Summerfest crowd
Summerfest, a 12-day long extravaganza featuring literally every band ever created (actually, only featuring 700 bands, but still crazy) kicked off Thursday in beautiful Milwaukee, with the Avett Brothers and Violent Femmes headlining for the evening, and featuring the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Gavin Degraw, and Diplo, among others.  Throughout the duration of the festival, overweight Milwaukeeans and music-lovers from all over the US will gorge themselves on shitty beer, cigarettes, and those turkey legs you always find at festivals, and will hear artists from Tom Petty, to Cake, to Pretty Lights.

The festival, which began in 1968, is now the world’s largest, confirmed by the Guinness Book of World Records every year since 1999, and brings in almost 1,000,000 attendees each year.  Since its inception–at the same venue it’s still held at today–Summerfest’s headliners have featured classics like The Beach Boys and Eric Clapton, legends like Whitney Houston and Bon Jovi, and country favorites like Rascall Flats and Shania Twain (remember, it’s Wisconsin).  Continue reading “Summerfest, World’s Largest Festival, Kicks Off Thursday”

Two Milwaukee women, Rebecca Chandler and Raven Larrabee, were arrested after cutting a man they met on the internet over 300 times in what the press is calling a “satanic sex ritual.”

The man, 18, travelled all the way from Phoenix on a bus to meet Rebecca, likely for a sexual encounter. He survived the stabbings, which reportedly took place over a period of two days.

The women, both in their early 20s, are in a Wisconsin jail with bail set to $150,000 (Chandler) and $100,000. (Larrabee) Rebecca Chandler referred to Larrabee as “Scarlett,” claiming that she did not know her real name and that they’d only been living together since July.
