Several pictures from the first ever photo shoot done of Marilyn Monroe are going to be put up for sale at Beverly Hills’ “Icons & Idols” auction, held December 2-4.
The shots were taken by Joseph Jasgur (who passed away in 2009) for Blue Book Modeling agency in 1946 back when Monroe went by her given name -Norma Jeane Dougherty.
The images have never been available for purchase because of various legal issues that surrounded them previously for more than twenty years…
Finally, the negatives and copyrights will be available for purchase by some lucky auction attendee with deep-pockets. Darren Julien, chief of Julien’s Auctions, who are behind the event, says on the sale of the iconic/vintage photos:
“It’s very rare to see something where you can buy a copyrighted image of (Monroe), especially of her first photo shoot. It’s really hard to put a value on something like this…These are probably the most significant images of Marilyn that are available because they’re so early…It’s rare to have images like these where you’re selling the rights, too.”
