“A man is born alone and dies alone; and he experiences the good and bad consequences of his own karma alone; and he goes to hell alone or the supreme abode.”
This is a quote by the Indian economic innovator and “shrewd observer of nature” Chanakya who lived in 300 BC. It is also a quote from the beginning of this gritty new Roots video, directed by Clifton Bell.
It is half the length of the original song, and very lonely and grim indeed. Maybe The Roots were too busy doing something else to really put a quality effort forward. (Like, working for Jimmy Fallon?)
