Add Kirk Cameron To The Long List Of Anti-Gay Windbags

Growing Pains actor Kirk Cameron jumped into a kettle full of scalding water when he spoke out against gay marriage on Piers Morgan, calling it “detrimental” and “destructive to so many of the foundations of civilization.”

Later, Piers was asked about his guest’s comments and he said that Cameron was “brave” and “honest” though many people would call it an “antiquated” view. Which it is. Here’s an exact Kirk Cameron quote from CNN:

“Marriage is almost as old as dirt, and it was defined in the garden between Adam and Eve. One man, one woman for life till death do you part. So I would never attempt to try to redefine marriage. And I don’t think anyone else should either.”

It’s not very brave at all, because it is the easiest thing in the world to berate and disagree people, I do it daily, sometimes to homophobes. On the other hand, it does make a lot of people want to punch you in the mouth.
I guess Piers’ point was just that Cameron knew his outlook would anger people, but he said it anyway, and he had a right to voice his opinion even though he disagrees.

To me, homophobia and racism are harmful to society, especially youths, and it’s best to just shut the fuck up before GLAAD comes a knockin’. (Which they did)

“Just because you feel one way doesn’t mean that we should act on everything that we feel.” Homosexuality occurs in over 450 species. So wow, God makes a lot of mistakes.

  1. @ Mike – quit reading the blog and quit judging.

Kirk Cameron is a fundamentalist Christian. He holds a very traditional view. That is not to say it is wrong and that is not to say that it is right. What is wonderful about America is that we can have our own points of view on a variety of subjects and not get thrown in jail for it. Kirk has his own belief system and his own moral standards. Some people have no moral standards whatsoever, should we judge them as well? I may not agree with Kirk, but that is his opinion, that is his way of life and thinking. That’s what makes our nation so great. We can have different points of views and still all get along.
