Sarah Hyland’s Dad Gave Her His Kidney

Sarah Hyland, who plays Haley Dunphy on Modern Family, was forced to undergo a kidney transplant after struggling with dysplasia and her father is the one who gave her the organ she needed.

Hyland, who had the surgery April 13, told Seventeen“
You know that family is always going to be there for you – no matter what. My dad gave me a freakin’ kidney!”

“It’s also the families that you create outside of your family. And you really find out what kind of people you’re friends with. It was just amazing, and it really opened my eyes to see who’s there for me and who’s not.”

That quote makes me wonder, who denied her their kidney?? Someone ‘wasn’t there for her,’ bastards. Apparently, her boyfriend Matt Propkop isn’t one of those people.

He helps me with my medication and takes me to doctor appointments and all the stuff that I need to do to take care of myself. Any other 21-year-old guy would not be there, I guarantee it. I am one of the luckiest people in the world to have him be there for me.”

She told Good Morning America that she had struggled on Modern Family and that it took a lot of energy to walk short distances. “I would be in a lot of
pain a lot of the time. If I didn’t get, like 12 hours of sleep – it felt, like, none at all.”

“I try and make it so that Haley is always sitting down. If you notice, she’s always sitting down a lot…or leaning and texting. When Haley walks up the stairs that’s like my work out for the week.”

”I have a second chance at life – not a lot of people get that.”

…Well, father’s day is June 17. I think Edward Hyland‘s getting a Mercedes.
