The film features interviews from former dealers, users, and legalization advocates alike, and examines the underground drug world, as well as the current state of our enforcement system. It’s supposed to be fascinating (because drugs are the BEST!) and currently has a 99% audience rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Not bad!
Seriously though, drugs are not the best–don’t do them. Just listen to Aaron Paul and you’ll be fine.
Among those interviewed for the film was Eminem, who opened up about his struggle with drugs like Vicodin and Ambien, and how an overdose brought him to the point of getting help (what a pussy).
Seriously though, Vicodin’s all fun and games when you have a legit prescription and are actually taking it for pain, or just randomly bumming one off your buddy who had leftovers from his recent hernia surgery. I mean shit, moms in Beverly Hills pop that shit like candy and they’re all fine, right? Eminem was a little more hardcore, though, claiming that at one point he was taking between 10 and 20 Vicodin pills per day.
He says that he had trouble identifying his addiction because he wasn’t hooked on more hardcore drugs like crack or meth. And since 20 pills of Vicoden per day is obviously the normal dose, it took him a long time to realize that he actually had a problem.
He’s obviously cleaned up his act since, but it wasn’t an easy process–he had to relearn his motor and speaking skills before he could make a full recovery.
Eminem was probably a blast back then. Now he’s 40, cleaned up, and has three kids. I bet he saw This is 40. Not even with his kids–they wouldn’t want to see that movie. He saw it alone on a Sunday afternoon. Because he wanted to.
Ok real talk–Eminem would never see This is 40, and frankly, he’s come a long way from being a blonde-haired junkie who popped pills and even took Ecstasy on stage, to a pretty responsible father with a solid, well-respected music career.
