Mars Landing Control’s ‘Mohawk Guy’ Is An Internet Sensation

So NASA landed a motorized vehicle on mars, but all we can talk about is the guy with the mohawk in the control room? Seems legit.

All I saw when I tuned into the free streaming simulcast of the rover’s landing was a bunch of nerds high fiving each other and a really grainy picture of some gravel from my driveway.

I guess it’s understandable that a bunch of women zoned in on the one dude that looks like he belongs in a Ridley Scott movie, instead with Best Buy employees in a group photo from 1972.

The latest human meme is Bobak Ferdowsi (code name: “Mohawk Guy)” of CIT’s Jet Propulsion laboratory in Pasadena, and everyone’s curious about his red planet…  Continue reading “Mars Landing Control’s ‘Mohawk Guy’ Is An Internet Sensation”

Three Of The “Kids” On Glee Are 30 Years Old

In a list of actors 25 and older who have played high schoolers not one but three members of the Glee cast were offenders. Maybe it is good that most of them are graduating. Gotta make room for new forehead wrinkles.

Cory Monteith (Finn) turned 30 on May 11 while co-stars Harry Shum Jr. (Mike Chang) did the same on April 28. Mark Salling (Puck) turns 30 in August. Sean Paul, Usher and Glee's Mark Salling

One mohawk runs its course and several others spring up, resilient as ever. It’s a bold move, one Josh Duhamel was just seen sporting. Coincidentally Fergie (Duhamel’s wifey) bandmate Will.i.am no longer has one.

I like mohawks and faux hawks and all that nonsense. Even if they look AWFUL, it’s the kind of thing you have to look at as a failed performance art attempt.  Continue reading “Celebrity Mohawks, 2011-2012 Edition”

Mark Salling’s Pre-Fame Bird Anthem

Shortly before his gig on Glee, Mark Salling a.k.a. Noah Puckerman, was a member of the Echo Park Ornithology Club in California.

In Fall of 2009 he told Campus Circle that he was “proud” to be involved with the club, and encouraged readers to “add them on Myspace.”

Recently, footage of Salling singing an ode to the club and birds (chickens even) in general has appeared  in viral format.

It’s kind of nice to see a “star” out in nature doing something dorky but environmentally-supportive. Plus he sounds A LOT like Death Cab’s Ben Gibbard. Continue reading “Mark Salling’s Pre-Fame Bird Anthem”
